Section II

Eligibility

U.S. public school districts and U.S. accredited private educational institutions that are teaching students in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) at the middle school level (Grades 6-8) are eligible to apply for awards under this Program. Each applicant U.S. public school district or U.S. accredited private educational institution is limited to nominating no more than one (1) teacher per school for participation in the NIST Summer Institute. The individual teachers that are nominated for participation in the NIST Summer Institute must meet the eligibility requirements set forth in Section III.1. of the FFO/Full Announcement.

Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is soliciting applications from eligible U.S. public school districts or U.S. accredited private educational institutions nominating middle school science teachers to participate in the NIST Summer Institute for Middle School Science Teachers (NIST Summer Institute or Program), which provides hands-on activities, lectures, tours, and visits with scientists and engineers in NIST laboratories. The NIST Summer Institute will be held at the NIST Campus in Gaithersburg, Maryland on July 18-29, 2011.
