Description
This award funds California State University, Sacramento University Enterprises Incâ¿¿s CA Intern Network students to work on data management projects to support high priority natural resource management needs. The Refuge staff and partners collect a large quantity of monitoring data on diverse species and habitats with the goal of informing management practices. The refuges Inventory and Monitoring team works with refuges to standardize datasets, analyze data, and develop protocols to support management decisions. Staff need easy access to current and historic data on land, water and wildlife resources in order to 1. reach habitat objectives for wildlife, 2. make efficient management and resource allocation decisions, and 3. increase public access and hunting experience quality. Refuges often require data management support to steward and analyze long-term natural resource monitoring datasets in order to meet their needs. This award funds a collaboration with the California State University, Sacramento to provide student interns the opportunity to gain valuable applied skills while meeting high priority natural resource data challenges for refuges. Projects will directly support waterfowl habitat, endangered and threatened species, and water resources management.
