Nursing Research - SBIR-STTR

Objective

Nurses understand that improving health and well-being means addressing people’s needs in multiple settings, contexts, and over the life course. NINR-supported science uses nursing’s holistic patient and community-focused perspective and wide reach across clinical and community settings to improve individual and population health by addressing the conditions where people live, learn, work, and play: those factors that are at the root of the health challenges that we see. NINR has a longstanding and continued commitment to developing the next generation of nurse scientists: those individuals and teams who will carry nursing research into the future.

SBIR grants can be awarded only to domestic small businesses (entities that are independently owned and operated for profit and have no more than 500 employees). Primary employment (more than one-half time) of the principal investigator must be with the small business at the time of award and during the conduct of the proposed project. STTR grants can be awarded only to domestic small business concerns (entities that are independently owned and operated for profit and have no more than 500 employees) which "partner" with a non-profit research institution to conduct cooperative research and development. Under the SBIR program, for both Phase I and Phase II, the primary employment of the PD/PI must be with the small business concern at the time of award and during the conduct of the proposed project.
