Screening and Treatment for Maternal Depression

Objective

The Screening and Treatment for Maternal Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders (MMHSUD) program aims to expand health care providers’ capacity to screen, assess, treat, and refer pregnant and postpartum women for maternal mental health and substance use disorders. This is accomplished by establishing, improving, and/or maintaining statewide, tribal, or regional networks that provide real-time psychiatric consultation, care coordination support services, and culturally and linguistically appropriate training to maternity care providers and clinical practices.

  • U.S. State Government (including the District of Columbia)
  • Federally Recognized Indian/Native American/Alaska Native Tribal Government
  • Indian/Native American/Alaska Native Tribal Government (Other than Federally Recognized)

Eligible entities for the Screening and Treatment for Maternal Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders Program are states, Indian tribes, and tribal organizations.
