Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety

Objective

To reduce the number of drowning and drain entrapment-related injuries and deaths of children associated with pools and spas by providing assistance for prevention education and safety standard enforcement.

Who Can Apply

  • U.S. State Government (including the District of Columbia)
  • Indian/Native American/Alaska Native Tribal Government (Other than Federally Recognized)

A. Eligible Applicants are entities that fall within one of the three definitions below. Eligible applicants can contract with other entities, including civic organizations, to achieve some aspects of their proposal. 1. The 50 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, Guam, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Midway Island, Wake Island, Kingman Reef, Johnston Island and Canal Zone. 2. Local Governments- political subdivisions of a state, which may include a county, municipality, city, town, township, local public authority, school district, special district, intrastate district, council of governments, or any agency or instrumentality of a local government. 3. Indian Tribes- any Indian tribe, band, nation, or other organized group or community, including any Alaska Native village or regional or village corporation as defined in or established pursuant to the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (85 Stat. 688) [43 U.S.C. 1601 et seq.], which is recognized as eligible for the special programs and services provided by the United States to Indians because of their status as Indians.
