Native Hawaiian Education

Objective

To develop innovative educational programs to assist Native Hawaiians, to supplement and expand programs and authorities in the area of education, and to encourage the maximum participation of Native Hawaiians in planning and management of Native Hawaiian education programs.

Who Can Apply

  • State (includes District of Columbia, public institutions of higher education and hospitals)
  • Local (includes State-designated lndian Tribes, excludes institutions of higher education and hospitals
  • Public nonprofit institution/organization (includes institutions of higher education and hospitals)
  • Other public institution/organization

Eligible applicants include: (1) Native Hawaiian educational organizations and community-based organizations; (2) public and private nonprofit organizations, agencies, and institutions with experience in developing or operating Native Hawaiian programs or programs of instruction in the Native Hawaiian language; (3) charter schools; or (4) consortia of the organizations, agencies, and institutions described above.
