Migrant Education High School Equivalency Program

Objective

To assist students who are engaged, or whose immediate family is engaged, in migrant and other seasonal farm-work to obtain the equivalent of a secondary school diploma and subsequently to gain employment or be placed in an institution of higher education or other postsecondary education or training.

Who Can Apply

  • Public nonprofit institution/organization (includes institutions of higher education and hospitals)
  • Private nonprofit institution/organization (includes institutions of higher education and hospitals)

Institutions of higher education or private nonprofit agencies in cooperation with institutions of higher education may apply.

Persons who are engaged or whose immediate family is engaged in migrant and other seasonal farmwork or who have participated or have been eligible to participate in the Title I, Migrant Education Program or the Department of Labor's National Farmworker Jobs Program. Eligible beneficiaries also must be age 16 and older or beyond the age of compulsory school attendance, and lacking a high school diploma or its equivalent.
