Procurement of Headstones and Markers and/or Presidential Memorial Certificates

Objective

Provide Government-furnished headstones and markers to mark the graves of and memorialize Veterans and other eligible individuals in national, state/tribal, or private cemeteries around the world. Provide Government-furnished medallions for placement on privately-purchased grave markers of Veterans. Provide Presidential Memorial Certificates to families and friends to honor the Veterans’ military service.

Who Can Apply

  • Veteran (including dependents)

A decedent's family member, personal representative, or other authorized applicants may submit claim forms for headstones, markers, medallions, and Presidential Memorial Certificates, as defined by Title 38 authorities.

Who Benefits

  • Individual/Family

Deceased eligible individuals are defined in 38 USC 112 (for Presidential Memorial Certificates) and 2306 (for headstones, markers, and medallions). Generally, these individuals include Veterans, Servicemembers, certain members of the Reserve components of the US Armed Forces, their spouses/surviving spouses, certain children, Union and Confederate Soldiers and Sailors, and others with qualifying military service.
