Vocational Training and Rehabilitation Benefits for Children of Vietnam Veterans and Certain other Veterans

Objective

To provide services to children of Vietnam Veterans born with spina bifida (except for spina bifida occulta), children of Women Vietnam Veterans born with certain birth defects, and children of certain Korea and Thailand service Veterans born with Spina Bifida. Chapter 18 enables a qualified child to prepare for and attain suitable employment.

Who Can Apply

Children who have spina bifida or certain other birth defects (except spina bifida occulta) and are biological children of Veterans with qualifying service in the Republic of South Vietnam, Republic of Korea, or Republic of Thailand may be eligible for various VA benefits, to include monthly monetary compensation, health care and vocational training depending on the child's degree of disability. The monetary compensation may be paid at one of three disability severity levels.
