Objective
Program goal name: Improve outcomes for and reduce impact of justice system involvement on families and children. Program goal(s) description: Establish new and enhance existing family-based pre-arrest and/or pre-sentencing alternative justice programs for parents/primary caregivers involved in or at risk of becoming involved in the criminal justice system to improve child, parent, and family outcomes. Program objective name: Develop programs for parents/primary caregivers and their dependent children impact by justice system involvement. Program objective description: Increase opportunities for alternatives to incarceration, as appropriate, for parents/primary caregivers to remain at home with their dependent youth; Provide family-based interventions that support family preservation, stabilize families, increase healthy child development, improve parenting skills, and reduce the likelihood of parent and/or child future involvement in the juvenile or criminal justice system; and Enhance cross-system coordination and collaboration that includes criminal justice agencies, treatment providers, probation and community supervision agencies, child protective agencies, community-based organizations, schools, corrections departments, and law enforcement to develop programming that supports the entire family.
