Objective
The Mathematical Sciences Program supports research for undergraduate programs, conferences and workshops in five subject areas: Algebra, Discrete Mathematics, Number Theory, Probability and Statistics. The award for conferences and workshops will not exceed $25,000 and, to avoid endorsement or the appearance thereof, approaches to cryptography proposals will not be accepted. The Special Situation category is for infrastructure development projects and for events that do not fall within the typical research conference format. Beneficiaries of these grants (including students, speakers and other participants) must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the U.S.

This will benefit mathematical researchers and those who are in the process of acquiring the skills necessary to do research in the the mathematical sciences. Beneficiaries are those who meet the criteria above and are U.S. citizens or permanent residents as well as their students who are U. S. citizens or permanent residents of the U.S..
