Objective
The overall goal of the award is to advance the Nation’s position as a global leader in the semiconductor industry and other critical and emerging technologies. To achieve this goal, the award recipient shall establish and manage a CHIPS R&D Science and Technology Fellowship Program that cultivates the next generation of scientific and technical leaders who will contribute to U.S. competitiveness and economic resilience. The program will consist of two cohorts – one for Federal fiscal year (FY) 2026 and one for FY27. Each cohort may include up to five (5) highly qualified science and engineering fellows. Each fellowship shall have a duration of 12-months, with the possibility of extension for up to two additional years, provided the extension remains within the overall award project period. Intended outcomes for fellows funded in this program are: Gaining hands-on federal government experience in high impact assignments within CRDO; Developing an understanding of science and technology policy processes and career pathways in academia, nonprofit, government, and the private sector; Attending workshops and targeted training to strengthen leadership and science and technology policy analysis skills and Exiting the program prepared to make sustained contributions to the Nation’s science and technology ecosystem, including potential leadership roles in federal government.
