Office of Urban Agriculture and Innovative Production

Objective

The Office of Urban Agriculture and Innovative Production (OUAIP) encourages and promotes urban, indoor, and other emerging agricultural practices including community gardens and farms located in urban areas, suburbs, and urban clusters; rooftop farms, outdoor vertical production, and green walls; indoor farms, greenhouses, and high-tech vertical technology farms; hydroponic, aeroponic, and aquaponic farm facilities; and other innovations in agricultural production, as determined by the Secretary of Agriculture. OUAIP manages programs, including for community gardens, urban farms, rooftop agriculture, and indoor vertical production; engages in stakeholder relations and developing external partnerships; identifies common State and municipal best practices for navigating local policies; coordinates networks of community gardens and facilitates connections to local food banks, and collaborates with other Federal agencies.

Applicants located within the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, the Caribbean Area (Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands), the Pacific Islands Area (Guam, American Samoa, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands) are eligible.
