Composting and Food Waste Reduction Cooperative Agreement Program

Objective
The goals and objectives of this program are Food Waste Reduction Objectives: 1) Reduce municipal food and waste 2) Divert residential and commercial food waste from landfills; Composting and Conservation Objectives: 1) Generate compost 2) Increase agricultural producers’ access to compost 3) Reduce reliance on, and limit the use of, chemical fertilizer4) Improve soil quality 5) Encourage waste management and permaculture business development. 6) Increase rainwater utilization (capture, infiltration, or absorption)
Who Can Apply
- Federally Recognized Indian/Native American/Alaska Native Tribal Government
- Indian/Native American/Alaska Native Tribal Government (Other than Federally Recognized)
- Tribally Designated Housing Authority
- Municipality or Township government (inclusive of cities, towns, boroughs (except in Alaska), and villages)
- County Government (inclusive of boroughs in Alaska, parishes and other governmental entities with geographic regional control and authority)
- School District
- Other Special Disctrict Government
Applicants located within the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, the Caribbean Area (Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands), the Pacific Islands Area (Guam, American Samoa, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands) are eligible.
