Objective

The Prescribed Fire/Fire Recovery program of the Forest Service aims to restore health to ecosystems that depend on fire. This is achieved through the controlled application of fire by a team of fire experts under specified weather conditions. The program addresses prescribed burning on Wildfire Crisis Strategy landscapes and across regional boundaries. It is part of the National Prescribed Fire Resource Mobilization Strategy, which was developed by a task group of incident management experts at the Forest Service. The strategy specifically addresses prescribed burning on Wildfire Crisis Strategy landscapes and across regional boundaries.
