Objective
The program provides grants for domestic Integrated Demonstration Units (IDUs) to applicants using agricultural commodities as feedstock and who have successfully completed Phase I of the 9003 Biorefinery, Renewable Chemical, and Biobased Product Manufacturing Assistance application process and received greenlight invitation letters.

Applicants using agricultural commodities as feedstock and who have successfully completed Phase I of the 9003 Biorefinery, Renewable Chemical, and Biobased Product Manufacturing Assistance (9003) application process and received greenlight invitation letters to Phase 2 of the 9003 program and demonstrating a need to execute an IDU. To be eligible for the grant, a project must meet the eligibility requirements costs associated with building an integrated demonstration unit and/or costs associated with paying for an existing domestic integrated demonstration unit to run their campaign. Project must also be using an agriculture commodity-based feedstock. Projects must be using the feedstock that was proposed with their initial submission. The term “agricultural commodity” means— wheat, cotton, flax, corn, dry beans, oats, barley, rye, rice, peanuts, soybeans, sugar beets, sugar cane, tomatoes, grain sorghum, sunflowers, raisins, oranges, sweet corn, dry peas, freezing and canning peas, forage, apples, grapes, potatoes, timber and forests, oilseed plants, nursery crops, livestock, citrus, and other fruits and vegetables, nuts, tame hay, native grass, hemp, aquatic plants propagated or reared in a controlled or selected environment, or any other derivative of such agricultural commodities including agricultural residues and woody biomass but excluding stored grain.
