Section I
How to Apply
Beginning in calendar year 2000 and each succeeding year, the trustee shall accept applications from members of the Stanleytown (Virginia) community. It is anticipated these applications will be made in a letter format, although some sort of formal application may be adopted at some time in the future. The application shall include a recital of the financial need of a student, the student's standing in his or her most recent academic class, and evidence of the student's leadership ability and general moral character. There is no formal application document; the trustees prefer to make their evaluation based on an applicant's spontaneous request.
On Unsolicited Proposals yes
Restrictions
At present, the only restriction on the class of eligible individuals is that they be members of the Stanleytown (Virginia) United Methodist Church. It is anticipated that the pool of potential applicants may be broadened to all seniors at the local high school at such time as the trust has accumulated sufficient funds. There are no restrictions or limitations in the selection procedures based upon race or employment status of the prospective recipient or any relative of the prospective recipient. The organization anticipates requiring submission of adequate documentation of a grade point average from the recipient's institution. Should the recipient's grade point average drop below 3.0 for any academic year, there would be no further grant for the next academic year.
