Applicants to the foundation should submit a letter (no more than 2–3 pages) requesting support, containing the following information: - Brief organizational history, including mission and goals. - Current projects and a brief description of recent accomplishments. - Federal tax-exempt number. - List of key staff leaders and their positions. - Current organizational budget for the organization's most recent fiscal year. - Brief description of the organization's overhead for its last fiscal year. - A description of the litigation for which you are seeking support, including the case name (if ongoing), the opposing party (ies), the expected duration of the litigation, and its goals. - The names of the attorneys who would be working on the litigation and their relevant experience. - Acknowledgement that you agree that the foundation can place a description of your project on the foundation's website. - Agree to submit semi-annual reports detailing the progress of the case for which support is sought.

Restrictions

The foundation will grant funds to tax-exempt organizations that promote its mission through litigation with systemic impact in the areas of civil rights, low-income housing, political asylum, domestic violence, human trafficking, refugee rights, immigration, rights of children, voting rights, disability rights, educational rights, constitutional rights, and disparities in community services and opportunities for economic development. Such systemic impact litigation should be aimed at improving the economic well-being, social conditions, and civil liberties of disadvantaged persons and groups throughout the United States.
