THE FOUNDATION PROVIDES FUNDING THROUGH GRANTS FOR RESEARCH AND CESSATION EDUCATION PROJECTS IN ORDER TO ACCELERATE THE GLOBAL DECLINE IN SMOKING. THE FOUNDATION RECOGNIZES THAT SOME GROUPS OF SMOKERS FACE ADDITIONAL CHALLENGES IN BEING ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY STOP THE USE OF COMBUSTIBLE AND TRADITIONAL TOBACCO PRODUCTS, AND MAY REQUIRE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT AND APPROACHES TO QUIT. The FOUNDATION ALSO RECOGNIZES THAT COUNTRIES AT DIFFERENT LEVELS OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT WILL NEED DIFFERENT SOLUTIONS TO EFFECTIVELY REDUCE SMOKING. THE FOUNDATION PROVIDES GRANTS TO SUPPORT WORK THAT IS BEING CONDUCTED BY INDEPENDENT RESEARCH ORGANIZATIONS, ACADEMIC INSTITUTIONS AND CENTERS, AND ORGANIZATIONS IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR.
