The Bertha Bonn Scholarship is submitted to the foundation on paper. The foundation provides an application form on which applicants fill in their answers or attach additional pages. The application asks for the candidate's name, address, phone, birthdate, marital status, parents' names, and parents' occupations. Applicants list and expound on their activities and achievements in school, community, and other organizations. Applicants are requested to write an essay explaining their personal qualifications; school and community activities and accomplishments; and why they are interested in the scholarship. They may comment on financial need in this essay if they wish to do so. Applicants are asked to list college preparatory or advanced study classes they have taken and explain how that experience has prepared them for their chosen field of study or for college in general.
