How to Apply
Items 2b, c and d. Announcements to the upcoming June graduates are made to the church in late February and early March of each year. Upon notification from the church of any potential June graduates, the Committee notifies the student in April the selected topic to write an essay and guidelines on how the essay will be ranked. Deadline for the essay are normally within 30 days. The selection committee consisting of 3 members from the Alpha Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority is given the essays with the same guidelines given to the student. The selection committee reviews and select essays that merit the award. In turn, the committee notifies the Education Committee of their selection. The Education notifies the respective student and guidance counselor so it can be printed in the commencement program if time permits.
On Unsolicited Proposals yes
Restrictions
The only direct charitable activity conducted by the Scholarship Fund is the distribution of the educational scholarship award to college-bound high school students at the Simmons Memorial Baptist Church in accordance to the Last Will and Testament of Josephine Baynard. This year there was only one college-bound high school student and one student returning to college. This is the Fund's only activity. The Fund conducts no fund-raising activities or solicits contributions. Interest income on the Fund's savings and temporary investment on the initial funds is the only income.
